In the third episode of Bryn & Ku’s Singles Club, the pair head into the heart of Ōtepoti’s student quarter to find out how young singletons are faring.
Bryn & Ku’s Singles Club is a new documentary series for The Spinoff following award-winning comedians and friends Brynley Stent and Kura Forrester as they embark on a cross-country quest to find love. Meeting people from all walks of life and relationship statuses, they will explore the realities of dating and relationships in modern day Aotearoa, and learn more about themselves along the way.
Heading into the heart of Ōtepoti’s flat party scene, Bryn and Ku meet some single students to find out more about what the dating scene and hook-up culture is like for young people in 2025. Sharing a few beverages with some 18-year-olds at the Horn Palace, Brynley opens up about leaving her long term relationship and Kura gets her Tinder profile assessed by someone half her age.
Are young people still looking for serious relationships? Does proper heartbreak still happen in the age of apps and social media? And just how many beer funnels can Bryn and Ku do before it’s time to call it a night?
